This summer, VNB will pilot the Team NB Early Elite program. The top 30-40 14U athletes will be selected to train alongside Team NB White and Green & Burgundy programs during the live-in Elite Camp (July 20th-24th) in Fredericton, NB.
Team NB Early Elite is athletes’ first encounter with the Team NB Elite Programs. This training camp brings the top athletes from each region to train with the Team NB coaches. Athletes will focus on enhancing technical skills and will be introduced to tactics and the importance of holistic athlete training (mental & physical training). There will be no further selections after the camp. Athletes will have a jamboree on the last day of camp. Athletes will not attend the Eastern Elite Championships.

There will be three open identification camps in Moncton, Fredericton, and Bathurst on the weekend of June 7th, 8th and 9th. These identification camps are run by Team NB coaches. Upon completion of these identification camps, all the selected athletes are invited to the final identification camp in Fredericton on June 16th, 2019. The athletes will attend two on court sessions and one testing session. Following the final ID camp, only the selected athletes will be invited to participate in the Team NB program. Athletes may be selected from the 14U tryout group. If an athlete is found capable to attend a tryout of a higher age division, it will be indicated on their invitation to the final tryout. This does not mean they are guaranteed a spot in this age division and does not take them out of the selection for their appropriate age division.
The Head Coach, Assistant Coach (s) in consultation with the remaining Team NB coaches, external evaluators, mentor coach and Technical Director, will make athlete selections. The selection criteria should be outlined at the beginning of each selection camp.
