New Coaches

Step One: All Coaches must have an NCCP Number by creating an account with the Coaches Association of Canada (The Locker).

Step Two: All Coaches must have an account with the Volleyball Canada Coaching Centre.

Once you have created these accounts, you must complete the mandatory coaching requirements.

Coaching Requirements

All Persons in Authority (PIA) must complete:

• • Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC)
  • VNB Screening Disclosure form
  • Safe Sport Training or Respect in Sport Certification
  • Read and adhere to Volleyball Canada’s Code of Conduct and Abuse Policy
  • Review and adhere to the Responsible Coaching Movement’s Rule of Two

All individuals acting as Head Coach at a VNB event must also complete:

• • Foundations of Volleyball
  • Making Ethical Decisions (Evaluation)
  • Making Headway in Sport

*Anyone acting as an assistant coach is strongly encouraged to complete the same training.

Head Coach Requirements for VNB Age-Class Provincials

New for 2025/2026

All Head Coaches – 13U and up

• • In addition to completing the Mandatory Requirements, all coaches participating as a Head Coach at a 13U/14U/15U/16U/17U/18U Provincials for the second time are required to have successfully completed the DEVELOPMENT COACH WORKSHOP
  • In addition to complete the Mandatory Requirements, all coaches participating as a Head Coach at a 13U/14U/15U/16U/17U/18U  Provincials for the third time or more are required to have CERTIFIED DEVELOPMENT COACH status

• PIA’s are all individuals who will sit on the bench at ANY VNB-sanctioned event or who are involved with young athletes in a VNB club training environment

  Rule of Two: Any one-on-one interaction between PIA and an individual athlete must take place within earshot and view of a second PIA. If possible, one of the PIAs should be the same gender as the athlete. If a PIA is not available, another screened volunteer, parent, or adult can be recruited. An exception is made for medical emergencies.
