Team NB Elite

The Team NB Elite program is VNB’s High-Performance summer program for youth athletes. Athletes try out through a series of regional and final tryouts, with the top athletes being selected to the final rosters.

Training is primarily based in Fredericton, NB, with the Eastern Elite Championship being hosted by various provinces, most recently by New Brunswick.

Team NB competed in the Eastern Elite Championships in July, 2023. With 5 Female and 4 Male teams competing in 16u and 18u divisions, Team NB had some amazing results! Check out the final standings for each division below.

Canada Cup (Indoor)

Canada Cup is a national volleyball competition hosted by Volleyball Canada. In previous years, Canada Cup has been hosted in Niagara (2023), Calgary (2022), and Halifax (2019). The location changes each year, allowing teams to experience different volleyball environments across Canada.

Typically, the top competitive teams from NB will attend Canada Cup. This competition serves as part of the competition pathway for teams on the way to Canda Games (every 4 years), and also provides an opportunity for Volleyball Canada’s national program staff to observe the country’s top athletes, as well as host educational sessions for athlets and coaches.

In 2023, Team NB sent 2 16u Female teams and 1 16u Male team to Brock College in Niagara. All teams represented NB well, winning a couple of tough matches, and battle hard in others against Canadas top youth provincial teams.

Early Elites (Indoor+Beach)

The Early Elite Program is VNB’s first introduction to a high-performance training environment for 13u and 14u Male and Female athletes. During June, athletes attend regional tryouts in order to receive an invitation to the Early Elite training camp.

Once selected, Athletes will attend a week-long high-performance training camp where they will experience technical skill based training, as well as competition and even an intro to beach volleyball!

Over 45 athletes were selected to the 2023 Early Elite training camp. Athletes stayed in the dorms at STU, practiced indoor volleyball at Leo Hayes High School, and were introduced to Beach Volleyball at the Willie O’Ree Beach Volleyball courts.

Canada Games (Indoor or Beach)

The Canada Summer Games happens every 4 years (Newfoundland 2025, New Brunswick 2029). Included in this competition are both Beach and Indoor Volleyball events.

New Brunswick will send the following teams to Canada Games 2025

1 x Male Indoor Team (12 Athletes)
